INSPIRATION : DESIGNERS AND ILLUSTRATORS

I thought I would share a few of the designers that are at the top of my inspiration and who to follow list. Two of them I've followed for a long time now and they still remain at the top of my bookmarked pages. Illustration is something I'm doing more of these days so I thought I'd also share some of the illustrators that I follow and draw inspiration from.

DESIGNERS

* We Are Branch
We Are Branch is the design business of Shauna Haider (aka Nubby Twiglet) whom I've previously mentioned in one of the 'Links' post. I came across her work and website a little while after I left university and have since followed her work and blog. Her design style is clean and clear which is exactly what I try to achieve in my design work.

Jessica Hische
While I'm not a type designer, I do think that every graphic designer should know of letter artist Jessica Hische. Her work is definitely top end! One of my favourite projects of her's is a series of classic book design covers for Barnes & Nobles.

Ty Mattson
My favourite piece of work from Ty Mattson is the limited edition silkscreen prints inspired by the television series Dexter. I love illustrative design and that's exactly what Mattson specialises in.

ILLUSTRATORS

Robin Eisenberg
"... inspired by space, fashion, feminism, sex, books, bands, the occult, makeovers, the beach...", her illustrations revolve around sensuous alien type women with the use of bold colours. What's better than that for a subject?

Boneface
With a horror punk quality, I love the gritty yet colourful illustrations of Boneface. He did the illustrations for Queen's of The Stone Age's album Like Clockwork. There is also a 15 minute music video in which animator/illustrator Liam Brazier turned Boneface's artwork into an animation.

Tyler Stout
Poster style illustrations for films and other subjects. What I really love is that there's so much going on and all the elements seem to perfectly interlace with one another. When I first saw this Repo Man artwork of his, I was blown away. It might actually be my favourite piece of illustration EVER.

Which individuals inspire you?
